Taekwondo Belt Tests

The color of a Taekwondo belt tells us which rank a Taekwondo student has mastered. To receive their colored belt, students must pass a belt exam or a “Promotional Testing”, administered by World Taekwondo (WT) guidelines and grading requirements for belts under different ranks.

According to WT, there are 10 Gups (ranks; also spelled Geup or Kup), starting from the 10th Gup (white belt) and ends with the 1st Gup (black belt).
